You could:

  1. Give your students a little information (Taganana pre-tour information)

  2. Give students the cards (Taganana 1st activity: 15 cards of history) - make a timeline of history together

  3. Compare cards with your neighbour; change cards and repeat

  4. Happy event? Or sad? Why?

  5. Move around the location, get students to speak their card for you - connect card to location

  6. Finish with the test (Taganana: How much can you remember?) - how much do your students remeber?

  7. Drama - act out the history!                                                                                          History, data collection, theatre, story-telling. Imagination with bottom-up reading.

    Read "bottom-up": give small pieces of text first, then add more, let students arrange and re-arrange them and only see the full text at the end. Let them use their sense and imagination to order and collect pieces together - then they see the real thing.

    Alternative: hand out the "event" cards and move around the area where the events took place, for inspiration and context. Get students to read out their cards, discuss, and imagine what happened. Finish with the "story-telling" cards and worksheets, but this time used as a memory test, to check what they recall.

Set your students a task - here, it's the responsibility for teaching the class about 1 aspect of culture, history, literature, a sport, etc, etc....

First, give the text cards (for cut-up) and let students put the cards with the correct picture.

Then, a team chooses a picture and works with that aspect. Draw the text, use the drawing to explain to other teams.

Let teams organise themselves, if they can.

Move around so everybody can show their drawing, and present their aspect.
